Alright, you say you want to see a movie with Meg Tilly, but you don’t want something dumb, like The Two Jakes.  And you also want something with Adam West where he doesn’t play a man in a mask.  But, at the same time you feel like something with a dead psychic who’s so powerful that, not only can he raise himself from the dead, but can raise other people from the dead too.  So, I searched and searched and I found a movie for you that fits this bill.  It took a while, but I don’t give up that easy!  I found a few Meg Tilly movies, including Agnes of God, but nothing with Adam West, and I found a bunch of Adam West movies, but nothing that anyone would actually want to sit through!!  And as far as coming back from the dead, there’s a whole section at my video store devoted to zombies, undead and walking corpses…they call it the Psychotic Mind section, I’m not sure if it’s named for me, or if that’s just who rents those movies…maybe I should ask?

Anyway, I finally found one, it’s called One Dark Night, and it’s about…well…One Dark Night.  This is basically Meg Tilly at her Meg Tilly-est, she wants to join a sorority, but to do that she has to spend the night in a mausoleum.  And it just so happens that this is the same mausoleum that the psychic “Raymar” has just been laid to rest.  Now, the strange thing about “Raymar” is that he’s a psychic vampire.  I’m not sure what that means, but I’m sure that it’s a whole lot worse than a regular psychic, no matter how scary that Jamaican woman “Ms. Cleo” is!!  Well, Meg decides to spend the night and her boyfriend tags along, mostly so Meg has someone to grab onto when she gets scared, you know, standard boyfriend stuff.  And, as you might have seen coming, “Raymar” comes back to life and brings a few friends with him and things get creepy and weird.  And then there’s Adam West running around Adam West-ing it up, generally making things more campy!

It’s worth watching just to see those crazy 80’s styles that we all loved so well, you know those leg warmers and little ankle socks and…I’d better stop, I’m just making myself crazy!!  But, One Dark Night will satisfy that craving for weird 80’s horror, without going down that Friday the 13th or Nightmare on Elm Street road…again.  It’s not the best movie ever made and I’m pretty sure that it never won an award, but it’s still worth seeing, and it’s light years better than The Two Jakes!!  Check it out, and remember, the best movies are bad movies!!!
