Did you ever hear that old urban legend about the guy chained in the attic and then the people who used to throw bones and raw meat to him, get sick and die and so the family that moves into the house next is taken by surprise to find a half-man half-monster tied up in the attic wanting food?  No?  Well, it’s a pretty good story.  You see, there’s a guy chained in the attic…oh yeah, I just told it.  Anyhow, that’s basically the story of the movie this time, ‘Castle Freak’.

     Castle Freak is brought to us by the people who brought us Re-Animator.  Although it’s not as gruesome and gory, it’s just as creepy and weird.  It’s the story of John and his family and how they inherit a castle in Europe from some relative.  Now, ordinarily, inherting anything is a good thing, it’s like found money, you can blow it and not worry about it, but this castle comes with…well…a freak.  Well, it turns out that John’s daughter is blind and she befriends the freak, but then the freak turns mean and John has to hunt and kill it.  You know, your standard haunted castle kinda stuff.   It’s not a bad movie if you like castles or freaks and if you like both, like me, it’s your kinda movie!

     Castle Freak is definitely worth checking out.  And until I inherit a castle and can quit my job and live the life I dream of, lying on the couch and watching TV all day, remember the best movies are bad movies!
