Don’t you hate your family?? Yeah, right, it’s just me! Admit it, there’s nothing more excruciating than all that family crap we’re forced to do at the end of every year. Between Christmas and New Year you get to see all the people that you spend the whole rest of the year avoiding, it’s one of the miracles of the season, I guess. Why am I complaining about this? Well, partly because I just spent time at a family reunion…God help me…and partly because the movie this time is about a close family relationship.

It’s called Basket Case, and if you haven’t seen it, then go to the
video store right now…I’ll wait! Alright,
now that you’re back, let me tell you a little about what you’re about to
see. This is the story of two
loving brothers, and how they stalk down and kill the people responsible for
hurting them. Now, that may sound
like about three thousand other movies you might’ve seen, but this has a bit
of a difference, you see, the brothers are Siamese twins and their mother had
them separated because one brother is normal and the other is more like a lump
of pizza dough with a face and hands. Pretty
much anytime the main character of a movie is Siamese twins, you know you’re
in for an experience!!
Now, it sounds like your generic, crappy, b movie fare, but there's something different about this movie. It's got a sense of humor about itself, and that's pretty rare from any movie anymore. And when the movie is from the 'people who brought you Frankenhooker', you know it's gotta be something to see!!
And
after seeing this, the next time you go to the airport you'll be looking at
anyone traveling with any unusual baggage differently, because after seeing this,
you’ll know, it’s because their deformed separated Siamese brother is in
there! And you’ll feel a little
better about your own family, after all, we can all, mostly, take comfort in the
fact that we’re not attached physically to them, we can leave…..Eventually!
And remember, you can pick your friends, you can pick your nose, but you
can’t pick your family and the best movies are bad movies.
