The Blood Shed
Horror movies are filled with strange people and freaky families, but I'm beginning to think that I've seen it all. In the new movie, The Blood Shed the family is one of the strangest, even if the movie treads some pretty familiar paths.
The Blood Shed is the story of the Bullion family, a strange inbred group who live in an isolated old farm house. There's Papa Elvis Bullion, the father and ring-leader, Hubcap Bullion, he's the equivalent to Choptop from TCM, there's Butternut, he's a little slow and provides the comic relief and a bit of horror too, there's Sno Cakes, she's the Baby Firefly of the group, and then there's Beefteena (writer/director Alan Rowe Kelly in a Shirley Temple dress and wig). The family is responsible for a series of disappearances in the nearby town, and when Hubcap and Butternut accidentally pull a local kid in half, things begin to heat up for the family.
The Blood
Shed is really an homage to TCM, the family is weird, they kill people and chop
them into pieces, and they even have a dinner scene! While it might sound
like I'm not a big fan of The Blood Shed, that would be the wrong impression.
The Blood Shed is a fun little horror movie that's clearly setting us up for
more, the ending comes just as the movie is getting really good, so I'm anxious
to see what Mr. Kelly has in store for next time...if there is one. I'm
giving The Blood Shed three out of four cigars,
it's
not perfect, but it's still a fun little horror movie that will give you the
creeps occasionally! So, until next time, remember don't make big guys in
strange dresses angry, they usually don't have anything to lose, and remember
that the best movies are bad movies!
