Movies To Look Forward To!
I know my life is pretty sad, because most of what I look forward to is movies that are coming soon, but I've been that way most of my life! When I was a teenager, when most kids were chasing girls and dating, I was heading down to the theatre or the drive in. I was at a movie every weekend, sometimes double or triple features, so, as I've grown older, the movies is the one thing that I can cling to from my youth that doesn't make me into some pathetic old dude trying to be young! So, from my wanderings and reading, here's a list of movies that I'll be heading down to the old multiplex to check out...as soon as they're out!

Grindhouse - Yes, I know that it's this Friday (4/6) but I've been looking forward to this since I first read about it a couple of years ago. Why? Well, because I was at the local grindhouse on those aforementioned weekends! And, while I'm not the biggest Tarantino fan, I'm a huge mark for Rodriquez, and with the addition of trailers and other promotional stuff in between the double feature, I think Grindhouse will be a blast from my past...if not yours! By the way, my favorite personal grindhouse memory? My buddy, Eric, and I heading down to the theatre for the biggest triple feature we'd ever heard of. The Fog (the John Carpenter original), The Children (one of the B-est of B movies ever!) and Phantasm (the original Don Coscarelli classic!) all on one bill for only a dollar!!

Fido - This is a movie I'm just hearing about. Basically the story of a zombie outbreak that's been controlled. The zombies are now our slaves, and we even keep them as pets. This is really sounds like a strange combo of zombie flick and coming of age story, and I love when genres are crashed together! I'll be there on opening weekend!

28 Weeks Later - This is the rare sequel that involves all the original creators. Usually when a movie is a hit, the studio just hires some writer/director du jour and churns out a sequel for the money. 28 Weeks Later appears to be that rarest of things, a sequel that's actually a continuation of the story, by the original story-tellers! Besides, 28 Days Later was one of the best zombie movies of all time...it's like loving Night Of The Living Dead, but not wanting to see Dawn!

Diary Of The Dead - After the misstep of Land Of The Dead, Romero returns to his low budget roots with Diary Of The Dead. This isn't a sequel like the others have been, this is more of a combination of Night Of The Living Dead with The Blair Witch Project. The basic story is the original zombie outbreak is happening while a group of film students are out shooting a movie. Suddenly, under attack by zombies, the story is apparently told via first person video. Sounds wildly different from anything Romero has done for a while and it sounds like he's in total control again, which is good news for Romero fans and zombie lovers!

Gore Gore Gore-Met - What can I say, Herschel Gordon Lewis and Autumn Nights Studio, I'm a fan of both, so this is one I'll be keeping my eye out for! First, Mr. Lewis is the godfather of the gore movie, between 2000 Maniacs and The Wizard Of Gore, there's not much more to say other than, welcome back! Autumn Nights Studios are an up and coming studio/effects house from Wisconsin that deserve to be watched. Their short film, Bait, caught my eye last year at the It Came From Lake Michigan Film Festival and they just keep turning out great work. Combining these two talented entities only makes me think that this will be an exponentially better movie!
And those are just the tip of the iceberg. Rob Zombie's Halloween, Friday The 13th (the remake), Son Of Horror Business, Cannibal Holocaust (the remake), 30 Days Of Night, the list just goes on and on and on for me! So, keep this site in your favorites and drop back by once and again to see what's going on in Bad Movie Guy World, and I'll do my best to keep my finger on the pulse of genre and low budget movies and keep you informed about what to see and, more importantly, what to avoid! And remember, here at BadMovieGuy.com, our motto is, The Best Movies ARE Bad Movies!!
