Blood Relic

Every once in a while, there's nothing like a good old fashioned drive-in movie. No deep plots, no symbolism, just a straight ahead story that's only there for fun. Well, that's what you'll get in Blood Relic!

The story here is pretty simple, a group of people renovating a site, making an aviation museum, decide to stay after dark and do a little partying. In the midst of the party, someone dressed in flight gear begins killing them one at a time in heinous ways. As the group is picked off one at a time we find out that the site was the scene of a previous murder that was all brought on by an idol that possesses whoever wears it and forces them to kill the people around them.

Blood Relic is a movie in the style of the classic 80s slasher movies, it's just good old fashioned fun...if you consider people being stalked and killed to be fun (Just an FYI, I do!). The story is good, the acting is great and, even though it's shot on digital video, it still manages to evoke that mood that the slasher movies did in the 80s. And, it's not a movie without a cast folks, here the two notables are Billy Drago, who is here only in passing and Debbie Rochon who goes against character here, in a great role, Debbie is cast as the "elder statesman" of the group, even though I'm hard pressed to consider Debbie old in any way! I'm giving Blood Relic three and a half out of four cigars,

because, while it might not be every one's cup of tea, if it is, it's a great cup! And, if you followed that metaphor, then good for you, give yourself a gold star. So, until next time, remember, it's doesn't matter whether it wins awards, it doesn't matter if the critics love it, it only matters if you enjoy the movie, and remember that the best movies are, often, bad movies!
