Die And Let Live

I've been a fan on Justin Channell's since I first saw Raising The Stakes. So, when the time came for his follow up, Die And Let Live, you know that I was totally on board!



Now, if you haven't seen Raising The Stakes, I highly recommend it, it's probably the funniest vampire movie ever made and, since it's a totally independent film, it's also amazing how great it is. So, I expected nothing less from Die And Let Live, Justin's take on the zombie genre, and I wasn't disappointed. Here's the story: Benny and Smalls are close friends, and when Smalls finds out that Benny has a crush on Stephanie he does what any good friend would do...he plans a party! Well, this would be just another romance, but, at a nearby medical facility, there's been an accident and a virus has been released, a virus that makes the dead rise again. And, we all know that once the dead rise, they're looking to party, so off to Smalls they all seem to head! Now, what was to be a gathering of friends turns into a fight for their lives, but don't think that Justin is just making a zombie movie here, this is a horror/comedy and the comedy is here in spades. I think the best part is the attempt, by the group, to retrieve the pizza that's on the same side of the fence as the zombies...but we have our priorities in place, it's really good pizza!!

Die And Let Live is probably the best indie zombie movie I've seen in ages. It doesn't take itself too seriously, the acting is great, the effects are amazing for a low budget movie, and, above all, it's just good fun! I'm giving Die And Let Live four out of four cigars,

because it's actually a movie I've watched more than once...yes, I liked it...and I think you will too.
