Curse Of The Demon
You know, no matter how many movies you may watch through the course of a week (and I watch plenty), it seems that there are always some out there that you've never heard of that are just great. That's what happened to me recently when I watched a movie from 1957 called Curse Of The Demon.
Now, ordinarily I would poo poo sitting down to watch a British movie from 1957, they just don't interest me generally. But, with some trepidation, I sat down to watch Curse Of The Demon..and you know what, it's actually quite a good movie, even if it's a bit dated. Here's the story: A professor from the U.S. has travelled to England to lecture on the paranormal, he's there to prove that mystics and fakirs are a lot of con men and charlatan, well, it seems that some of the people who he's about to condemn publicly are actually in league with the devil and have they've put a curse on him. Now, as simple as that may sound, this is actually a great movie. The special effects are great when you consider the year it was made and the story is fast paced and compelling. The story of the disbeliever thrown into the world of the occult has been done over and over, but I have to believe that this is one of the first, and it holds up very well for being forty years old!
I'm giving Curse Of The Demon four out of four cigars,

because this is a small treasure from the past and it shows that you don't need computers to make good believable special effects, you just need some ingenuity! So, until next time, when I'll tell you about the curse that I'm under...I think it was put on me by a burrito I ate last night, remember that the best movies are bad movies.
